Welcome (Back) to College! (Or This Universe?)

AI designed Anime Renaissance festival.

Welcome to a new year of college! (or Life!) (Or a year in this Prison Universe if you accidentally got trapped here by Dr. Strange – Let’s make the best of it.)

I’ve been away myself on other planets in other worlds. Specifically trapped on an island with 42 high school teens. It was so fun, until it wasn’t. (The writing and editing were incredible.)

What have you all been up to this summer?

In the meantime, to get ready for college (talking to myself here too), let’s get our heads screwed on straight. Remember:

  1. We can be excited, even if we have to be here and don’t love certain tasks.
  2. We can make the most of our roles and our work.
  3. We can enjoy the process as we grow.
  4. We can be zany – or remember to find ways to bring fun (and anything else you want – like excellence) into what we do.
  5. We SHOULD all work on TIME MANAGEMENT and more BALANCING from this week forward. – Last week we could just party; Now we can party, but I also should check my email for pesky student questions too! (Just kidding- I like students!) – What do you need to add to your todo lists each week now?
  6. We CAN make mistakes, but we need to recover or get help when we do.
  7. Let’s Balance: Introspective Joy and Healthy Work – so let’s occasionally party and learn about ourselves, but we must meet our goals and work towards WRaT Process improvement too (Writing, Reading, and Thinking). Dang it – now I feel like working out. Ish.

In new courses and settings, there are lots of things to learn, so let’s start small.

Also, go read something interesting – your choice. NEWS? Learning about a new video game or the upcoming PS 6 or Mars Colony? The next ACOTAR or Romantasy book? That ALL works!

And feel free to share here:

  1. What did you do this summer?
  2. What are you looking forward to?
  3. What are you reading?

My #3 – I just read a fun horror book that was enjoyable up until a mediocre ending… Incidents Around the House by Josh Malerman – Recommended, but not a favorite. The Movie “Other Mommy” will come out soon…

Or just passively read other replies… for a while longer… Until you develop that confidence! (You can always EDIT or DELETE later…)

Have a GREAT first week of college!
